5 Cool Games to Play on Your Next Road Trip

Most of us will be traveling on the road this summer at one point or another. We should be prepared with fun things to do amid the highway traffic. We encourage you to make your road trip experience as fun as possible, especially if you are traveling with kids! Playing fun games on the road can be an excellent cure for a bad case of backseat boredom. Here are some game ideas to keep yourselves entertained on your next road trip:

Punch Buggy

Volkswagen Beetles are the Punch Buggies. The first person to spot one on the road calls out the color and says, "[Color] Punch Buggy—no punch backs!". The person is then allowed to punch everyone within arm's reach (gently-of course).

The Name Game

To begin the game, someone says a name (e.g., John), and the next person has to say a name that starts with the last letter of that name (in this case, N, so maybe Ned). The third person picks a name that begins with the last letter of the second person's name choice, and so forth. No duplicates are allowed, and they must all be real names.

20 Questions

Each round, a mysterious thing is selected by a single person for the rest of the passengers to guess. There are only 20 questions that the entire family can ask, so choose carefully. If no one correctly thinks of the thing by the end of the 20 questions, then the person who decided wins. Of course, you can modify the game accordingly to make it as long-going as you want.

Name That Tune

This game is perfect for music fans. Name That Tune is exactly what it sounds to be. Songs are played, and you have to be the first to yell out the song's artist and the song's title for each one. Whoever can correctly guess the most tunes by the end of the trip is the winner.

The License Plate Game

The goal of the License Plate Game is to find as many license plates from as many different states as possible. Whoever catches the first state plate gets to cross it off and claim that as one of their states. This game usually requires paper maps and pens or pencils to keep score. Whoever claims the most states win at the end of the trip
